In addition to fabulous food and drinks, the event will feature a Community Chef Competition. The competition includes three teams comprised of a Chef, a prominent community leader and a junior high student (ages 12 to 14) from Fairview Gardens’ internship program. The teams will have 30 minutes to prepare a stellar dish of their choice with donated ingredients from Whole Foods and Fairview Gardens. Participants include:
- Bacara Chef David Reardon, Santa Barbara City Fire Department Captain Michael Hoose and a Fairview Gardens intern
- Anchor Woodfire Kitchen Chef Jason Tuley, Foodbank of Santa Barbara County CEO Erik Talkin and a Fairview Gardens intern
- The Lark Chef Jason Paluska, Santa Barbara City College President Lori Gaskin and a Fairview Gardens intern
Judging will be conducted by Montecito Country Club Executive Chef Michael Blackwell, KEYT General Manager Mark Danielson and 805 Living Editor in Chief Lynne Andujar. In addition to endless bragging rights, the winning intern will receive a class field trip and hands-on chef cooking class at Bacara Resort & Spa

Her movie-goddess looks have adorned the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, and countless other fashion magazines all over the world. She has been on the cover of over 160 magazines and her exquisite beauty has been the image of such well-known advertising campaigns as Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Jill Sander, Helmut Lang, Calvin Klein, Versace, Revlon and the list goes on…
Recently, Tatjana has been the face of Marina Rinaldi and Shisheido Skincare. She was featured in American Vogue August 2012 in a fashion story shot by Peter Lindbergh and is on the cover of Numero China March 2013.
Born in Germany and reared in Sweden, Tatjana was discovered at the age of 17. Soon afterwards she became a much sought-after face in the modeling industry, working with all the top photographers, including Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh and Steven Meisel and for all the most prestigious clients. Tatjana has graced the catwalks of Paris, Milan and New York showcasing the designs of such fashion dignitaries as Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Chanel, Versace, Prada, Armani, John Galliano, Helmut Lang, Jean-Paul Gaultier, etc.
After having made her mark in the Fashion world as one of the “Super Models”, this 5’11”, blue-eyed blond was an unforgettable presence in the George Michael’ famous “Freedom 90” music video, made her big-screen debut, starring opposite Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes in “Rising Sun”, and was featured in Robert Altman’s “Pret-a-Porter”.
Tatjana calls Santa Barbara California home and resides there with her son, Jonah, and spends as much time as she can doing her favorite thing………being with all her animals. Being an avid animal rights advocate, it is not surprising to hear that Tatjana has a menagerie right at home including horses, dogs, cats, a parrot and array of different birds. She serves as the Ambassador to Dolphin Aid, as well as being involved with such organizations as Save the Horses Foundation, National Wildlife Federation, Defenders of Wildlife, and the Humane Society. Tatjana is in the middle of producing a documentary regarding the endangered wild mustang horses in the USA. One of her goals is to enlighten the youth of today of the very viable problem of animal endangerment that plagues our planet.

In 2013 proceeds from Taste of Nation Santa Barbara will locally support these organizations that are dedicated to fighting childhood hunger.




Foodbank of Santa Barbara County The mission of the Food Bank is to provide nourishment to those in need by acquiring and distributing safe nutritious foods via local agencies and providing education to solve hunger and nutrition problems in Santa Barbara County.
California Food Policy Advocates
A statewide policy and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of low income Californians by increasing their access to nutritious, affordable food.
Initiatives and Campaigns include:
- The BreakfastFirst Campaign, which is a three-year initiative, launched in 2010, to strengthen school breakfast programs across California by improving access, participation, and nutritional quality
- The Real Eats for Academics and Life -REAL School Food Initiative brings stakeholders together to work on strategies and policy opportunities in support of freshly prepared meals made from whole and minimally processed ingredients and to improve the appeal of
- Water in Schools: Water is an essential, calorie-free nutrient, yet is little used as an obesity prevention strategy. This page provides updates and news on efforts to implement requirements to promote drinking water in schools.
California Association of Food Banks
The mission of California Association of Food Banks is to provide a unified voice among food banks to maximize their ability to build a well-nourished California. To accomplish this mission, the membership of 41 food banks focuses on increasing the visibility of hunger and its solutions, assisting Californians in accessing food assistance and nutrition programs, distributing fresh produce through the Farm to Family program and influencing public policy at the state and federal level.
