San Francisco Taste of the Nation

March 24, 2016

City View @ The Metreon

135 4th Street
San Francisco, California

Thank You for Joining Us At San Francisco's 2015 Taste of the Nation! Stay tuned for more information about our 2016 event!

Nearly half of all children in the United States will be on food stamps at the some point in their life. Today, 1 in 4 children experience food insecurity and hunger in California alone.

For each dollar raised by Taste of the Nation San Francisco, a child will have the opportunity to receive 10 school breakfasts or 10 summer meals, providing reliable access to healthy food all year long through the efforts of the local programs that this event supports, including 18 Reasons, California Association of Food Banks, California Food Policy Advocates, and Children of Shelters.

Guests at this year's event sampled delicious bites and drinks from the city’s best, browsed the silent auction, and enjoyed an amazing evening at City View at The Metreon.

Thank you for your continued support in our mission to ensure that no kid goes hungry. We look forward to seeing you at San Francisco's Taste of the Nation in 2016!

Who We Help

www.18reasons.org18 Reasons empowers our community with the creativity and confidence needed to buy, cook, and eat good food every day. Through their classroom on 18th Street, they offer over 200 classes and dinners each year. Through their Cooking Matters program, they help over 2,000 low-income families each year learn to cook healthy food on a limited budget. Visit them at to volunteer, attend an event, or learn more.

California Association of Food Banks (CAFB) represents more than 40 food banks and advocates for government policies that will benefit the 2 million Californians its network serves each year. With our Farm to Family program, we distribute 140 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables annually through our food bank network. Visit to learn how CAFB and its members are working together to build a healthier, hunger-free California.

California Food Policy Advocates dedicates the whole of its time, resources, and energy toward increasing low-income Californians’ access to healthy food. They make change – policy changes that increase participation in nutrition programs like CalFresh, school breakfast and lunch, child care, summer food, and more. And they work to make the food offered by these programs more healthy and appealing. Lend your support to their advocacy efforts by visiting

Children of Shelters creates opportunities and provides educational funding for the children living in San Francisco's shelters in an effort to break the cycle of homelessness. Money gathered through fundraising efforts is dedicated to the Garden to Table program which brings cooking classes, gardening education and hands on garden experience directly to the children in the shelters in an effort to prepare them for a healthier, sustainable future.
